The Investor Relations Society, the UK’s professional body for investor communications, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Davies as its new Chief Executive. Gary will join The Society on 10 July 2018 to succeed John Gollifer, who has been General Manager of The Society since 2012 and will retire in the summer. Reflecting best practice, Gary’s appointment follows a search undertaken by the IR Society Board and conducted by Fidelio Partners.

Gary brings extensive business and IR experience to The Society having been Director of Investor Relations at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for over a decade during a career spanning nearly 30 years at GSK and its heritage companies. Gary has been a committed and active member of The IR Society over the past 3 years and currently sits on the Education and Examinations Committees. He has also successfully completed the Certificate in IR, the Diploma in IR and most recently, the DELIVER programme, The Society’s Leadership programme.

Gary has a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Biology and achieved an Executive MBA whilst living in the USA.

Commenting on the appointment, David Lloyd-Seed, Chair of The Society said:

“I am delighted that Gary will be taking on the role of our new Chief Executive. He brings great experience from both inside and outside our profession. This is an exciting time for Investor Relations and I know he will relish the opportunity to use his experience to continue to build the Society for the benefit of our members. I look forward to working with Gary, particularly as he brings his external corporate and strategic planning experience to bear as we set the course for the next phase of the Society’s development.

I would also like to thank John for the fantastic work he has done for the Society over the last 6 years, particularly in building our profile both in the UK and internationally. He will work closely with Gary over the coming months to ensure a smooth handover.”

Gary Davies added:

"I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the IR Society. This is a great time for the IR profession and having experienced the benefits of membership, networking, education and qualifications that the Society offers, I am extremely excited to build on the great work John has done. I look forward to working with the team at Coleman Street and applying my experience to deliver even greater benefits for our members going forward."
