GovernArt and The IR Society announce the 2018 launch of the ICIR in Latin America
The International Certificate in Investor Relations (ICIR) programme took place on June 26-27th 2018 in Santiago, Chile at the Santiago Exchange having been successfully started in 2017.
GovernArt and The Investor Relations Society of the United Kingdom (GovernArt / IR Society) delivered the ICIR in Latin America for the second time in June 2018 at the Santiago Exchange to 12 delegates from Chile. The first time the programme was delivered in Latin America was during November 2017.
The IR Officers participating in the programme represented a broad cross-section of business in Latin America and the totality of the delegates went on to take the ICIR exam. Some of the companies represented in this second version are: Antofagasta Minerals, Banco de Chile, Banco Santander, Minera Los Pelambres SAAM, Salfacorp, and Santiago Stock Exchange.
The ICIR is an internationally recognised qualification for the investor relations profession. The qualification allows successful candidates to demonstrate their knowledge of the operating and regulatory environment and to apply best practice in investor communications.
The programme is a valuable benchmark for those already in the profession and an essential prerequisite for those seeking to work in investor relations. With over 1,300 successful candidates from more than 25 countries, the ICIR is firmly established as the leading IR qualification worldwide.
Lucy Pamboukdjian, Chief Commercial Officer of The Santiago Exchange said, “We are delighted to be part of this exciting collaboration to promote best practices in the investor communications of our listed companies. To bring together delegates who can form their own peer groups around the region is what a marketplace is all about and we are proud to have made this happen in Chile.”
German Heufemann, Managing Partner of GovernArt, said, “We have witnessed in the last years how the investor relations role keeps growing in relevance as a key position to disclose ESG issues and material data in this field towards the capital market. We are convinced that working with the IR Society in bringing the ICIR to Latin America provides necessary tools and knowledge to further help the IROs in adding value to their organizations”.
John Gollifer, General Manager of The IR Society commented, “this timely initiative by GovernArt, The Santiago Exchange and the IR Society combines a principles-based framework for IR and a practical way to give companies the knowledge and tools for the development of their own strategies for investor communications." He added that ‘obtaining the ICIR provides international recognition as a qualified IR practitioner and demonstrates competence and growing expertise as an IRO.”
