Trends from the first 25 annual reports - Emperor
With the possibility of early adoption of Companies Act and UK Corporate Governance Code changes, how companies have approached their reporting is particularly interesting this year. Emperor’s stakeholder engagement team has analysed the first 25 December 2018 FTSE 100 reports to be published, summarised the key learnings in this transitional period and included examples of best practice.
The trends we identify, together with our own experiences in the season, help to shape the advice we provide going forward.
Five trends that stood out are:
01. Purpose is the theme of the year
02. Early adoption of new requirements
03. Strategy is founded on growth and efficiency
04. Diverse approaches to sustainability reporting
05. New requirements increase the average page count
