Best Practice Awards

Now in their 20th year, the IR Society Best Practice Awards provide a meaningful opportunity to showcase best practice, raise the standard of investor communications and recognise best in class performance.

About the Awards

These awards offer a truly meaningful opportunity to showcase best practice. Each award aims to cover companies from the largest to the smallest – FTSE 100, FTSE 250 and small cap and AIM, as well as international – in recognition of the diverse range of listed businesses looking to the UK for excellence in IR. The real value of this awards programme is that it allows the IR Society to feed back to the IR community what great looks like in terms of how companies are communicating with their stakeholders.

Self-entry Awards

The Self-entry Awards are open to all companies listed on a recognised exchange that wish to demonstrate their commitment to leading investor communications. Entries are scored against criteria based on the Society’s guidelines for best practice in investor communications. We also ask companies to add a statement of their own to support the entry. This gives companies an opportunity to share their approach to the award and to highlight what works for them and their audience. Having completed the scoring on both a quantitative and qualitative basis, with expert input from independent third parties – primarily business schools – the shortlists are submitted to a panel of judges drawn from users of annual reports and accounts. The winners are chosen from the shortlists and announced at the Best Practice Awards Dinner in November.

This year, following a review by the IR Society’s Best Practice Committee, the awards categories will be:

  • Most effective overall communication of company investment proposition

  • Most effective integration of ESG

  • Best IR communications in a corporate transaction

  • Best use of digital communications

  • Best annual report

Voted Awards

The Voted Awards recognise excellence in individual and team investor relations, and we are delighted to be working in partnership once again with Extel, an Institutional Investor company, which has helped us to address a larger audience and voting universe comprising both the buy and sell sides.

  • Best Investor Engagement

  • Best Newcomer to IR

  • Best IRO

  • Best Overall Company IR
