Role Summary
In this newly created position - reporting to the Group Head of IR - we are looking for an outstanding individual to build the strength of the IR team. The ideal candidate will be energetic, smart, curious, and well-organised. You will act as a deputy to the Head of IR and contribute to the understanding of the company by building trust and confidence within the investor community. As a member of this high-profile team, you will be responsible for helping to implement an effective IR programme, covering the company’s communication with the Capital markets.
The Senior Manager of Investor Relations will have regular opportunities to interact with senior members of the SSP executive team, the finance and communications teams, and the group secretariat. Main Responsibilities
Strategic IR Planning & Execution
- Partner with the Group Head of IR to develop and implement a best-in-class investor relations programme and strategy
- Drive investor engagement, delivering high levels of service and ensuring effective communication of SSP’s performance, strategy, and market positioning to investors and analysts worldwide.
Investor & Market Communications
- Lead the initial preparation of investor materials, including financial results announcements, presentations, and key messages.
- Provide input on external financial messaging to enhance SSP’s market positioning and shareholder value perception.
C-Suite & Board Advisory
- Deliver regular insights to the Executive team and Board, providing in-depth analysis on SSP’s share price movements, sector performance, peer benchmarking, and broader market trends.
- Lead on shareholder analysis, identifying opportunities to enhance investor targeting and optimizing the composition of the share register.
Analyst Relations & Market Intelligence
- Develop and enhance relationships with sell-side analysts, championing the accuracy of external forecasts and providing a balanced narrative on SSP’s financial and strategic direction.
- Monitor and interpret analyst research, providing the Executive team with insights on market expectations and variances against internal projections.
Financial & Consensus Analysis
- Collaborate with the Finance team to analyse market expectations versus internal performance, ensuring accurate and effective management of sell-side analyst consensus.
- Provide recommendations on external messaging based on financial performance insights and investor feedback.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a bridge between Investor Relations, Finance, Strategy, Communications, and other key teams to ensure alignment in corporate messaging
- Address investor concerns by gathering, synthesizing, and presenting complex financial and strategic information in a clear and compelling manner.
Investor Events & Roadshows
- Lead the planning and execution of investor events, including results presentations, roadshows, capital markets days, and site visits.
Key Measurables
- Documentation of an annual IR strategy and roadmap to be reviewed quarterly
- Delivery of initial drafts of market communication materials including press releases and presentations and ensuring details within are accurate and fairly represented
- Preparation of insightful monthly market reports for Board and Executive management
- Completion of an annual investor targeting review to be refreshed quarterly
- Review of sell-side analyst research, identifying areas requiring further action
- Ensuring the accurate preparation and prompt publication of our analyst consensus
- Prompt and professional resolution of incoming investor queries
Key Working Relationships
- Close working relationship with other Group finance teams, in particular Group F,P&A
- Close working relationship with our Group Communications team and Group Legal team
- Regular interaction with Group CFO
- Exposure to Group CEO and Executive Management team
- Opportunity to build relationships with sell-side analysts
Person Specification
Essential:
- A strong financial background, with excellent modelling, analytical and numerical capabilities. An accountancy qualification is an advantage.
- A good writer. We are seeking an individual who is highly articulate and able to express our investor narrative in an engaging way.
- A good, working understanding of financial models, equity markets, corporate financials, share register analysis and the regulatory environment.
- A curiosity about businesses and how they work.
- Independence of mind, able to think on their feet and able to influence those around them, while also being team-spirited and able to work successfully with multiple, diverse stakeholder groups towards common agreed goals.
- First-class planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Able to observe the finest detail alongside being a ‘big picture’ strategic thinker.
Desirable:
- In-house IR experience, relevant capital markets experience (broking, buy- or sell-side) or in-house F,P&A experience
- Strong academic track record, including a relevant financial qualification
- Good commercial acumen
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to foster relationships with peers and senior management
- The ability to deliver high quality work under pressure of tight deadlines
- Excellent Power point and Excel skills
