IR Masterclass: Practical Skills for IR Teams

Investor Relations is a broad-ranging role, in which you will have a diverse range of practical skills to master in order to successfully engage with both the investment community and your internal stakeholders. This masterclass will be beneficial to both experienced in-house practitioners looking to share best practice and hear about new strategies, as well as less experienced IROs looking to understand the options available and de-code the jargon. This interactive in-person event will cover some of the most critical skills that all IR teams need to consider. The roundtable discussion format will also provide you with lots of opportunities to share thoughts and network with your peers.

Since joining the team in 2023, Caroline has led the planning and delivery of IHG’s programme of investor events and roadshows. Prior to this, she held various IR and corporate communications roles at National Grid, Balfour Beatty and Network Rail.

She is particularly interested in ways to improve global investor targeting and access, often through better use of technology. Caroline has two young children and is a keen runner.

Jane joined the Investor Relations team at BAT in 2023, after working in the Investor Relations team at Tesco. Originally on the sell-side, Jane worked in the City for 20 years – at Citigroup (Equity Research and Corporate Access, working in both New York and London) and then Exane BNP Paribas, providing Corporate Access and IR advisory services to their corporate clients. Jane has a PhD in Animal Behaviour from Bristol University.

During this time, she also served as a Board Director of the UK’s IR Society for 7 years. Her entry to the world of investor relations was through the industry’s leading publication, IR Magazine, where she was the International Business Director. However, Claire’s career commenced in the legal industry where she spent 10 years working closely with world-leading law firms and in-house general counsel.

As of 2024, over 300 Investor Relations teams globally partner with Visible Alpha, now part of S&P Global, for consensus collection and market sentiment monitoring. In previous years, Antoni worked with key hedge fund and long-only Clients. Antoni holds an MA in Law from SOAS, University of London and an MA in Politics and Central & East European Studies from the University of Glasgow.

Prior to that, Rob spent 3 years as Head of IR at Inmarsat plc, a satellite operator, before which he was Head of Global Investor relations for Tokyo-listed Dentsu Inc, following their acquisition of Aegis plc in 2013, where was Head of IR. Before that, Rob had senior IR roles for Lonmin Plc, a platinum mining business, and G4S plc, a security services company. Before moving into in-house IR, Rob worked for a number of financial communications consultancies, including FTI and Gavin Anderson.
