We invite you to join us on your way to work for a cuppa and a slice or two of cake to help us raise money for Macmillan. If you’re feeling really creative then do feel free to bring along a cake of your own – you can even find some helpful recipes here!

Forward-Thinking Careers: From IRO to NED?

It goes without saying that career progression is an important topic in Investor Relations and the question as to whether IR is a career for life, or a stepping stone to something else, has been much debated. One area that is rarely covered, but is of growing interest to IROs, is the path to becoming a NED. We are delighted to welcome Gillian Karran-Cumberlege, herself a former Head of IR for Volkswagen and UBS and now a Founding Partner of Fidelio, a Board Development and Executive Search firm which specialises in building boards and leadership teams. Gillian also has first-hand NED experience. She will provide valuable insights and advice for IROs who are potentially interested in pursuing this path.

Best Practice Awards Dinner

The annual dinner is a real highlight of the IR calendar providing a fantastic opportunity to mingle with peers, celebrate the end of another busy year and recognise all that is best in the world of investor communications.

The 2019 event will be held on Tuesday 19 November. Our host for the evening is Sindhu Vee. A finalist in various prestigious new comedy awards, and Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nominee, Sindhu has built an enviable reputation on the live circuit. She’s performed around the world, and has become a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe (on one occasion having to turn dozens away from her overcapacity show). Sindhu has starred in her own Radio 4 series, Sindhustan, where she took a comic look at her own life, family and experiences. She’s appeared on Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week, QI and Live At The Apollo as well as acting roles in film and tv.

The evening begins with a champagne reception, followed by a sumptuous three-course meal, entertainment and the awards ceremony hosted by a celebrity compere and finally an opportunity to network or hit the dance floor!
