Introduction to IR and the Financial Markets
This one-day course provides an excellent introduction to the world of investor relations, listed companies and the financial markets in which they operate. It explains clearly how the markets are regulated as well as looking at equity investors and the underlying investment principles. A Q&A session with a senior IR professional provides an invaluable opportunity to clarify any practical areas of particular interest to the participants.

Course tutor: Deborah Morton-Dare
Deborah specialises in financial training for all levels from beginners to advanced. She presents a comprehensive range of courses to a diverse range of corporate clients and financial institutions and specialises in making complex technical subjects comprehensible.
Deborah qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Young and then worked in Corporate Finance gaining wide ranging experience in a variety of corporate and financial institutions. She then worked as a financial consultant to companies assisting them in raising finance and structuring.
Guest speaker: Holly Gillis
Head of Investor Relations - Diploma
Holly is Head of IR at Diploma plc. Prior to that she was a Senior Director at leading financial and corporate communications consultancy, Citigate Dewe Rogerson (CDR). Before joining CDR in 2021, Holly gained over 15 years of experience in in-house finance, corporate communications and investor relations roles in the high-profile UK public transport sector. In her most recent role – Head of IR at The Go-Ahead Group plc – Holly was a member of the leadership team and was a trusted advisor to the Board and Executive Management.
Having held an in-house Head of IR role throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Holly is experienced in crisis management and stakeholder engagement. She is skilled in simplifying complex concepts into digestible messaging with consideration for multiple audiences.
An active member of the Investor Relations Society, Holly is co-chair of the Education Committee, having previously been a member of the Society’s Best Practice Committee. She completed the IR Society’s prestigious DELIVER programme in early 2021.
Holly is an ACCA qualified accountant and has a BSc in Psychology.
