The IR Society announces appointments of new Chair and Deputy Chair

The Investor Relations Society is pleased to announce that David Walker, Head of Investor Relations at British Land and current Deputy Chair of the Society will assume the role of Chair.

The Investor Relations Society (the Society) is pleased to announce that David Walker, Head of Investor Relations at British Land and current Deputy Chair of the Society will assume the role of Chair, when the current Chair, David Lloyd-Seed, steps down at the conclusion of the last Board meeting of the year on 4th December 2019.  Douglas Radcliffe, Group Investor Relations Director at Lloyds Banking Group, will assume the role of Deputy Chair.

The Board wishes to thank David Lloyd-Seed, Director at Powerscourt, for his leadership and support of the Society for the last 3 years.  He will remain a member of the Board of the IR Society.

David Lloyd-Seed said: “I am delighted that David and Douglas will be taking over as Chair and Deputy Chair.  I know their expertise in, and passion for, the industry will help guide the Society through its next evolution.

It has been an honour to serve as Chair over the last three years.  With international recognition, a comprehensive educational pathway and a voice at the top table of all things IR, the Society is a true champion of this fabulous industry and I am excited about its future.  A huge thank you to the brilliant executive team and to my fellow Board members for their support.”

David Walker commented: “I am proud to be taking over as Chair of the Society at such an exciting and important time for our profession.  Having worked alongside David for the last 3 years I’ve seen first-hand the effort and commitment with which he has led the Society and I thank him for that.

David Walker - Head of Investor Relations, British Land

David qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC in London. Following this, he spent over 7 years in the city at Deutsche Bank where he held a variety of roles within the Corporate Finance division, including Business Development and as a Vice President in the UK Corporate Broking team.  After leaving Deutsche Bank David worked for 7 years at Hays PLC, the FTSE250 listed specialist recruitment group, where he headed up the Investor Relations & Corporate Development team. In October 2017 he joined British Land, the FTSE 100 Real Estate company as Head of Investor Relations. David has served on the board of the Investor Relations Society since 2012 and has been Deputy Chair since 2016.

Douglas Radcliffe - Group Investor Relations Director, Lloyds Banking Group

Douglas is Group Investor Relations Director at Lloyds Banking Group, having led the team for the last five years and been a senior member of the team at Lloyds Bank and subsequently Lloyds Banking Group for the last twelve years.  Prior to joining the Investor Relations team Douglas held management positions within Group Strategy, Group Risk and Private Banking having initially joined Lloyds Bank on the graduate development programme.  Douglas was elected to the Board of the Investor Relations Society in June 2016.
